Aloha e, Richard,
I had to laugh when kumu remarked that the teachers may be overpaid if they could afford the $50 banquet. It goes to show that we too are proud of his accomplishments and of him.
I'm sure that I can speak for the KES ohana when I say that we also have great respect for you. Mahalo for being a part of our ohana.

Aloha,

I wish I had read this article when it was first posted, but since I didn't I thought a comment would be good!

I was one of the many students that had the privileg to be a student of Kumu Lehua. To have had the honor to call him, Kumu Lehua. In fact, when asked who is your favortie educator/teacher, I have always, and will always say Kumu Lehua.

He raised the bars for us, and because of him education was fun and exciting. I still think of the many projects he had us do, and I still have some of them.

What an honor for him to be recognized in such a prestigious award!

Me ke aloha, Lei Ka'ula
