Richard,

When you speak of geothermal, are you talking about the Puna site and technology? other sites? other technologies?

Howzit James
There are lots of issues to weigh. But,I think it is generally better to get steam from fresh water rather than salty.

To go with this argument, it will spread risk and lower transmission costs to the Kona side.

On the other hand, when will Peak OIl hit us and possibly dry up credit to do anything? I think that it will happen sooner than most people realize.

Relying on fossil fuel or bio fuels is the high cost alternative to geothermal. The effect on folks on the lower end of the economic strata will get their lights turned off first. Hawaiians fall in this category. To me, this is the most important thing that we need to take care of now.

In a post Peak OIl world we must have cooperation and harmony. We need to have a strong sense of community, we need more friends and be closer to our families.

We must not let Hawaiians bear the brunt of rising energy costs. We must be wise and show aloha now before push comes to shove and we will only be able to give excuses why we did not think about this when we could have.

The aloha spirit is what must define us post peak oil. We cannot leave the host culture behind!!

Thanks for your comments James. I appreciate it very much.

Aloha Richard
